Race Against PH
Before the Greek Independence Day parade on 3/29/09 in Tarpon Springs, Florida, my host city for my 20/20/20<5@45, a few runners got together to run a mile down the parade course. In 2010, this mile race will be titled "The Race Against PH" as we try to bring awareness to pediatric pulmonary hypertension.
My young niece, Breanne, suffers from this condition. Starting next year, we will be raising money for research and care of the young children stricken with PH. I appreciate the runners and organizers who came out this year to help promote the race.
From left to right, race organizer - Vasile Faklis, 100/200 meter Greek runner - Marianna Karavokiros, her sister and 800 meter runner - Eleni Karavokiros, me, masters triathlete - Jennifer Sullivan, top teenage triathlete - Kailand Cosgrove, and race director - David Putnam.
I travel out to AZ this week for a photo and video shoot. This will begin our preparations for New England Marathon...One Mile At A Time. Next month we will begin to post information about this exciting and challenging event this July.

Dave, I just continue to be impressed and inspired with the bright light and positive example you are. Thanks for being you, and keep up the great work. I hope to run into you soon.

Hi David, I once ran 5.01 for the mile, I think a good running technique is really important for injury prevention as well as running at your best speed!
Do you have any tips for improving running bio-mechanics and can we see some video's of you running so we can learn more!

Dear Rick,
Thanks so much for your blog entry and question. I, too, believe that the biomechanics of running is crucial to running fast and efficiently. However, the more I see young runners run, the more I think they need help with their biomechanics.
There are videos on the www.OneMileRunner.com blog that show me running at past races, but coming up in early July we have put together a short video that goes over the fundamentals of efficient running and I will be demonstrating the form on the track and on the beach.

That sounds like an excellent cause. Most people, even those who don't work out often, can do a mile. You all look to be in good shape from the pictures. Any tips to improving my endurance besides jogging?
